Gibbering Mouther

Basic Information:
Of all the terrors created by foul sorcery, gibbering mouthers are among the most wicked and depraved. This creature is the composite eyes, mouths, and liquefied matter of its former victims. Driven to insanity by the destruction of their bodies and absorption into the mouther, those victims gibber incoherent madness, forced to consume everything in reach. Gibbering mouthers are not natural creatures. Usually, they are the creation of foul sorcery. Some sages instead claime that gibbering mouthers arise from sentient creatures that have died in places touched by the Far Realm. Gibbering mouthers reproduce by asexual fission. They split their amorphous bodies down the middle whenever they have consumed enough nutrients to support two bodies. The mouther hides in a secure area while performing this process, since it can take up to four hours. Once split, the two mouthers move away from each other. Every victim consumed by a gibbering mouther adds another mouth and pair of eyes to the mass of the beast's body. Only living prey works for this. Some sages believe that bringing two gibbering mouthers together can cause them to join, creating a larger mouther.
